How Humans are Compromising Estuaries:
Hudson River Estuary
Because estuaries are such important and useful ecosystems, big cities like New York, which is located on the Hudson River Estuary, are settled upon it. The estuaries serve as great ecosystems for humans, but the estuaries themselves are at risk of pollution. They can also be at risk from being invested with sewage, overfishing, land use and sediment run off.
Seals at Dee Estuary
This is an example of what can happen when humans are careless. This image is of suffering seals in the Dee Estuary, lying between Wirral Peninsula, England and Flintshire, and North East Wales. The impact humans are making on estuaries and the rest of the natural earth is too much-it needs to stop and it needs to stop quickly. Over time, 90% of marine species have been diminished due to human activity as well as 65% of sea grass and wetland habitats. The pace at which these violations to our natural world are at a speed that is accelerating too quickly. We have a responsibility to keep our earth a livable place for all creatures and to not compromise anyone else's habitat for our own ease.
