General Info:
Estuary Mouth
Estuaries can be found all over the world in any place where a river meets an ocean. This makes estuaries vary greatly for in different parts of the globe they have different climates and organisms that live in estuaries. In estuaries the salinity levels vary greatly as the tides in the ocean rise and fall, and as the rivers flow into it. At the tidal limit of a river flowing into an estuary, the salinity is almost 0%, but it can increase to as high as 3.4% salinity levels at the mouth of the estuary which is where the estuary meets the ocean. Because of these varying circumstances, the organisms living in estuaries have to be able to adapt to the changing salinity levels.
